The Book of Daniel. God is still in control. It can be hard to believe this when we watch the news around us, but he is still on the throne. We see this important theme in the book of Daniel. Young men are taken away to be indoctrinated by the king who will utterly destroy their home. God’s people are thrown into a fiery furnace and a lion’s den. We see visions of horrifying beasts rising out of the ocean. Those were scary days….like today. And so we learn how to trust the One who is in control, we learn to live by faith in hostile territory, and we learn to thrive in the darkest of days. Things seem to be spiraling into chaos, but keep calm - God is still in control..
Christmas 2020. These are difficult days. In the weariness of our world, we need a reason to rejoice. And we find a reason to rejoice when we turn to the first Christmas. As we spend time in Luke’s Gospel this Christmas, we will find a thrill of hope. It is here we are introduced to a God who is faithful to his promises, a baby who still reigns as the King of kings, and a Savior who brings peace and joy to all who believe.
